I’ve been running Avenger Gold Coast Fishing Charters since February 2015 and started overall working in the Gold Coast Fishing Charter industry in 2004.
My favorite type of fishing is floating a light weighted bait down and out for any species really, a Snapper or a Spotted Mackerel is tops. My favorite eating fish has got to be Yellowfin Tuna, that stuff is hard to beat. I Ate Mahi Mahi every day for almost 3 weeks straight in Fiji once, would’ve continued if the flight didn’t leave.
Cassia has been an integral part of Avenger Fishing Charters since its inception.
I took Cass’ offshore for her first time fishing outside in 2011. Water depth was 20m, there was a 15kg Cobia, 2 x 5kg Spotted Mackerel and a 10kg Spanish Mackerel hooked up and played to the boat in the first 20 mins. Talk about beginners luck! Or lady luck? Doesn’t matter, she beat me convincingly that arv. Now believes that’s how fishing is every time, nothing but action for 20 mins and then you go home. I wish.
Loki and Taco make up a very large part of the Avenger Fishing Charter crew’s support network.
Although neither of them have caught a fish yet, they’re the reason the skipper can drag and also has to drag himself out of bed in the morning over and over. Plus it’s fishing, surely the job isn’t that hard, my friends tell me it’s not even real work, cheers boys.
It was a real risk to name a kid after the Norse god of mischief, lets see how that pans out. Best behavior no doubt.
Becki (who started as “Becki the Deckie” on BK’s Gold Coast Fishing Charters) is a great fishing buddy and skipper and deckhand.
She now owns part of BK’s Fishing Charters and skippers often and runs the admin side also.
Often gets the 3 best fish of the day when fishing without guests. It’s infuriating.
Kaleb’s a Master 5 and has worked a large range of vessels in fishing charters, dive boats and whale watching. Also a great fishing buddy.
On top of that, he’s the tackle rat out of us all. Big knowledge of a lot of different techniques, We often turn to him for advice on rigs and the finer points of fishing. He’s a pretty good bloke. He’s part of the family now, gave me cable ties for Christmas 2 years ago.
Matt hates this photo. He tried the old fisho angry face but I told him he was pretty so he smiled. Matt was a decki for a little bit, stole all the knowledge he could from me and bailed. Still mates.
Pat went out of his was to serve me a beer once so I asked if he wanted a job. He was Avenger Fishing’s first full time deckie and that was his downfall, full time with me is just too much. Pat left me for a younger model. Still mates.
